Welcome to The Literature Circle!
Cicero once advised~
Read at every wait, Read at all hours, Read within leisure, Read in times of labor. Read as one goes in, Read as one goes out. The task of an educated mind is simply put: Read to lead.
More recently, Anna Quindlen has described the impact that reading has had on her,
“I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to, and people I’ve never met… in books I have traveled, not only to other worlds, but into my own.”
Books are indeed, a ‘magic portal’ into a thousand different worlds, in a thousand different places and and a thousand different times; into ourselves, and into the private spaces of others. Books give words to what we often cannot.
So, here at The Literature Circle, we read!! We read everything; classics, contemporary books, biographies and memoirs, narratives and non-fiction, fantasy, and anything else that might strike our fancy! Books that might take a year to finish, or perhaps a day.
We read, and we are compelled to talk about what we read. Because as we read, discoveries are made which we must share! We argue, we defend, we listen, we synthesize, digest, and we are changed.
So come along and join The Literature Circle, and muse with us as we chat about all those wonderful books!
